Dr. Eric L. Booker
Pastor | Superintendent | Communications Executive | Community Leader
Dr. Eric L. Booker is a proven leader in ministry, education, and public service. He is the former principal of Tabernacle Christian Academy (TCA), the largest fully accredited private school in Chicago and the third largest in the state of Illinois. Under his leadership, TCA educated more than 16,000 students, achieved a 98% graduation rate, and maintained a zero-percent dropout rate—an extraordinary legacy of academic excellence and spiritual impact.
Raised in a pastor’s home, Pastor Eric accepted Christ at an early age and committed his life to surrender and obedience to the will of God. He acknowledged his call to Gospel Ministry in 1993 and was officially ordained in August of 1999. His journey of service and leadership within the Church of God in Christ spans every level—local, district, jurisdictional, and national.
He has served as a National Adjutant and Episcopal Adjutant to his father, the late Bishop Ocie Booker, within the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Illinois. Pastor Eric has also held the roles of District Youth President, Sunday School Superintendent, and Minister of Music at the local church level.
Equipped with ministerial and pastoral training from the C.H. Mason/William Roberts College of Ministry, and holding a Doctor of Ministry degree, Dr. Booker now leads as Pastor of Greater Tabernacle Cathedral Church of God in Christ and District Superintendent of the Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson Memorial District in the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Illinois.
In addition to his ministry work, Dr. Booker serves in local government as the Director of Communications for the City of Country Club Hills, Illinois, and as General Manager of the Country Club Hills Theater, a premier performing arts venue in the south suburbs of Chicago. His diverse leadership roles reflect his passion for building strong communities, fostering creativity, and transforming lives.
Dr. Booker is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, where he continues to champion the fraternity's principles of scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the uplift of humanity.
He is joyfully married to Yolanda, his wife of 27 years, and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Leah Mariah and Erica Lynn.
